Lineage includes our Chilton/Wynselow families both are Mayflower passangers and Pilgrams. Mary Chilton b. 1607 St Peter, Sandwich, England, was a passenger on the Mayflower along with her mother and father.
Signing of the Mayflower Compact
James Chilton was born about 1556 in Canterbury, Kent, England, a signer of The Mayflower Compact, died 8 December 1620, on board the Mayflower, eve prior to arrival at Plymouth Rock. Mary Chiltons mothers name has been lost to history but it is known she died shortly after arrival to the colony. John Winslow, future husband of Mary was on board The Speedwell which was deamed un-seaworthy a few days into the maiden voyage and returned to Holland. John made a later voyage to join his brother William Wynselow who was a passenger on the Mayflower with the Chilton family. Mary Chilton was credited with being the first woman to disembark from the Mayflower. A beautiful collection of oil paintings painted by Bacon in the 1800’s depict the occasions of the Pilgrams and a portrait of Mary Chilton as she disembarked the Mayflower onto Plymouth Rock.
